I walk to work in San Francisco because I can’t afford to Lyft/ride Bart. Today at 5th in SOMA a young guy started following me. At first I just thought we were going in the same direction… and then I noticed he was matching my pace exactly. Then he was practically stepping on my feet even though the rest of the sidewalk was open. I’d shift left and he’d shift left, I move right and he moves right. He made sure to stay directly behind me in striking distance at all times. I broke out into a run and he did too. I ran towards other people and said, “Back the f**k off,” which he just thought was so funny.
He enjoyed making me feel like I was in danger. I just want to walk to work without feeling threatened. I am not a play thing for bored men.
